Starting a Business on a Budget

From the time I was a young boy, I always knew I wanted to be my own business owner. Later in life, I ended up working in an office and barely making ends meet. I kept telling myself that I couldn't start my own business until I saved up a certain amount of money or finally cleaned up my credit and got approved for a loan. Eventually, I realized that if I wanted to start a business, I just could not wait any longer and had to do it on a tight budget. I made things work, and I am now a successful business owner. I learned a lot while building my business and still learn every day, so I decided to start a blog to help other new business owners. I plan to post many tips, so come back often for new tips.

Getting Ready To Move Into An Old Houseboat? Clean The Carpets Before Moving In

Houseboats are a unique breed of property. They are not that common, which is also partly due to the fact that they need to be on a safe body of water to work well in the first place. But, there is no denying that they have a special kind of charm to them, so it may have been your dream to live in one. If this is becoming a reality, you should take a few steps to get the place ready before bringing furniture inside. If the house is mainly carpeted, you will want to invest in carpet cleaning to avoid future problems.

Get Rid of Any Undesirable Scents

With such close access to the water, it is easy to see how these homes can feel humid. The problem is that humidity is not a good combination with carpeting, so it is not uncommon to come across musty smells. Paying about $0.05 per square foot should do the trick for completely deodorizing the houseboat. This is a perfectly reasonable amount to spend to start off with a home that smells great, or at least neutral.

Find Out If Mold Is a Problem

If you do not have that much experience with carpeting, you might not want to be the person who assesses the carpet's condition in the home. Professional carpet cleaners have seen it all, so you can expect them to know what carpet mold looks and smells like. If there is a mold problem, they can help you determine whether you should replace the entire carpeting or just the section that is affected. Also, getting an expert to inspect the carpet prevents you from taking the risk of exposure to mold spores.

Pick Up a Dehumidifier

It is understandable to think that you might always have to deal with a humidity problem, which could continuously cause complications for the carpet in your houseboat. But, one solution that you should consider is investing in a dehumidifier that you can use to control the moisture inside. Whether you pick a thermos-electric dehumidifier or compressor dehumidifier is up to you as they are both effective.

An old houseboat may have some problems that could become overwhelming without the right guidance. But, when you go in with a plan to clean the carpets and keep mold from being a problem, you can get ready for loading up your moving truck, bringing your possessions, and moving in with full confidence. For more information, contact professionals like H & L Janitorial Service.
